WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS!!!!
There are no words for what I found this morning when I checked on my Reece's Rainbow Christmas Angel Megan....you know what it was?!?! Go look at the white donation box to the right in the side bar.
***THAT IS NO ERROR***
I have no idea who you are, or how you came to find sweet Megan. Because of you; however, Megan now has a real, honest to goodness chance at getting a family. So many families want to adopt, but money stands in their way. When a child gets a grant like this one, they can step forward.
So whoever you are...GOD BLESS YOU and THANK YOU! I cannot wait to get the news that Megan is going to go home to a family. For everyone else who donated during the angel tree drive, your dollars whether $1.00 or $100.00 or anywhere in between, are a valuable and meaning part of her grant. Her adoption will still cost in upwards of $30,000.00, so NO amount is unworthy. All donations are precious gifts to this sweet girl.

Miracles for Megan? Her Birthday and XMas are in December
This is Megan.
Her 6th Birthday is some time this month which means her transfer to a mental institution will happen if it hasn't already. :-( So, for her birthday and for Christmas she will most likely be transferred to the institution.
I signed up to be Megan's warrior for the Reece's Rainbow Angel Tree in hopes to meet the goal of $1,000.00 to her grant fund account. So far, I have raised $202.70. My sister has been very helpful in raising these funds despite us all being on a tight budget this holiday season. Through our donated commissions from our direct sales business, and our own personal donations, Megan's account grew. We received two additional anonymous donations as well as one from another kind person who I believe also wishes to stay anonymous.
Those donations have meant so much to me, and I know they will to Megan's family when they find her. However, Megan still sits very low on the Reece's Rainbow angel tree. This means, while other children's funds grow and grow, she falls lower and lower. With that, I have set a new goal for Megan.
My new goal for Megan is to reach $500.00. This just means we need a little under $300.00 to meet Megan's new goal. While the RR goal still stands at $1,000.00, I feel that even reaching $500.00 would be fantastic.
Megan has waited so very long for a family to come forward. As other children's grant funds grow, it will make it easier for adopting families to look past Megan because her grant is still smaller than so many. It is a sad reality, but in some cases, available grant money really does have to be deciding factor for adopting families.
So, if you come and read this, would you please consider $1.00, $2.00, $5.00 or more for Megan. Let's see if we cant give her the best birthday/Christmas present of a full $500.00 raised for her adoption. Will you help make Miracles for Megan?

Make a Move for Megan
UPDATED**GIVEAWAY CANCELLED :-(
After much thought, I have decided to "pull" Megan's giveaway. There are SO MANY giveaways going on out there for children with families already committed as well as for Angel Tree kids. There just aren't people donating to the smaller giveaways, and I think the money I set aside for Megan's giveaway prizes can better serve her just being added to her Angel Tree account.
I sincerely hope that any and all of you reading might still consider even a small donation to Megan. $1.00? $5.00? That is all I am asking for you to consider.
I am not giving up on raising the money for Megan before the Angel Tree drive is over, but I need a different approach.
And...for those of you who donated. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! It means so much to me, and it will mean so much to Megan and her family when someone commits to her (and they will! I just know it!)

Making Miracles for Megan
TO DONATE TO MEGAN, JUST CLICK ON HER PHOTO ON THE UPPER RIGHT SIDE OF THE BLOG. THEN FIND HER PICTURE ON THAT PAGE AND CLICK THE DONATE BOX BELOW HERE NAME AND PHOTO. (or just click on this sentence and do the same).
Today marks the beginning of the Reece's Rainbow Angel Tree fundraiser. What you need to know about the fundraiser can be found here. But the short of it is that each holiday season, the children of Reece's Rainbow who do not have families are put on the "Angel Tree". Then, families and individuals commit to trying to raise their grant funds $1000.00 or more. You see, many, many families wish to adopt and would qualify to do so except for one thing.
I dont feel I have adequately explained this in the past, but families must meet an extraordinary amount of financial, physical and mental examinations to qualify. So many families out there can pass THIS part of the "test" to become international adoptive parents. If they are approved, then the governments in both the adopting country and the US believe they are and can always be capable of caring for their child(ren) being adopted. BUT...adoption is NOT cheap. International adoption can range from $17,000 to over $40,000.00. This is where many families are stuck, waiting, hoping and praying. It isn't that they cannot take care of a rescued child with special needs once they are home, it is that they cannot pay the $17,000-$40,000 that is required to bring them home. (Do you have that just sitting around in the bank somewhere? Most people don't.)
So that is why Reece's Rainbow does everything it can to raise money and awareness so that families ready, willing and approved to adopt internationally can afford the up front costs. So that children with special needs in Eastern Europe and Latin America are not left to mental institutions at ages as young as 4 years old. (Just watch the video at the top of the page linked @ "mental institutions in the previous sentence.)
To say that they are all like that video would be false. They are not. But to pretend that any of the mental institutions in Eastern Europe are good would be the overstatement of the year. Some are better than others, but NONE are the right place for a person as young as 4 years old who has Down Syndrome.
Even in the best baby house orphanages, children fight to survive at times. If you follow any one of these children from their parents' first visit to their trip home, in just that short amount of time you absolutely and truly see LIFE come back to them. They have never known the special love that is a mother and/or a father. It just takes days to see them change. Within months of coming home so many of the children are practically unrecognizable because of how much they change, how far they come, and how much love they are given.
Can you tell I feel strongly about this?
Now, back to the Angel Tree. If you donate $35.00 or more you get a holiday ornament with the child's picture that you donated to (MEGAN!). :-) Any and I mean ANY ANY amount is a blessing. If you think $1.00, $5.00, $10.00 wont make a difference you are wrong! It will. I saw a little girl's family raise over $2,000 in a matter of a week with many, many $1.00 donations. No amount is too small.
If you choose to donate to Megan (PRETTY PLEASE!) I would love for you to comment below. I plan to try and have some sort of a giveaway as a "thank you" for your donations, and just because you donate now does not mean you cannot enter the giveaway. So again, if you donate any amount no matter what it is, please, PLEASE leave your comment below so that I can enter you into the giveaway later.
Thank you so much for coming to this blog and for considering a donation to Megan!

Meet Megan!
This is Megan. Megan is my first Reece's Rainbow Christmas Angel. A year ago today, I was barely familiar with Reece's Rainbow, and now, I have spent the last year trying my best and doing what I can to help save these beautiful orphans.
While adoption is not an option for us right now, helping others with their adoption costs and helping raise money for the grant funds of orphans without families has become very important to me.
The goal of the RR Angel Tree is to raise $1,000.00 during the holiday season for the grant funds of many of the orphans listed on their site. While I have not exactly figured out how I will raise that money yet, I know it is possible. I can be responsible for raising Megan's grant $1,000.00.
Stay tuned for information on just how I plan on doing that.
